Instructional days170
TermsFour quarters, two semesters
First bell8:30 a.m.
Dismissal3:15 p.m.; Friday 1:40 p.m.

The day runs on four ninety-minute blocks Monday through Thursday and three on Friday. Each course meets three times a week for 270 minutes, against a Carnegie floor of 120 hours for one credit.

Students change rooms three times a day rather than seven. A laboratory period runs start to finish inside one block.

Curriculum and credit

Every student carries six one-credit courses a year, one in each block:

Mathematics1.0 credit a year
English1.0 credit a year
Science1.0 credit a year
Social Science1.0 credit a year
World Language1.0 credit a year
Elective1.0 credit a year

Six credits a year, twenty-four across four years. The diploma requires twenty-four credits.

Advanced Placement

Reagan is a College Board member school. Advanced Placement courses run on the same ninety-minute block as every other course and hold no more than twelve students. Examination registration is handled by the school.

College credit while enrolled

A student may enrol concurrently at a local community college and earn college and high school credit for the same course. Whether a course transfers is decided by the receiving university, not by Reagan.

Online Academy

Courses outside the six-block day — credit recovery, an additional world language, an elective the schedule cannot hold — are transcripted by Reagan and count toward the diploma.
